Following recent legislation EPC's are required for all new commercial buildings (not dwellings) being erected after October 2008. They are also required prior to any commercial building being offered for sale or to let. The responsibility and cost of producing the Certificate lies with the seller or landlord. The Certificate can be produced by one of RVA's accredited Assessors who will file the certificate with the National Register. Our trained Assessors are well placed to provide this service throughout the UK. The EPC provides information on the energy performance of a building based on the estimated CO2 emissions. They incorporate a rating for the building, from A - G with "A" being the most energy efficient, together with a report setting out costed recommendations to improve the rating with an indicative payback period.

The requirement is being phased in as follows:
The EPC is valid for up to 10 years and cannot be altered but can be replaced by a subsequent Certificate. Failure to produce an EPC will result in a fine up to a maximum of £5,000 with a continuing requirement to produce the Certificate. |
